Who we are

Packet is a cloud locker for APKs, on iPhone and Android. Contact: hello@atberth.com.

The short version

• An account is optional. Signed out, Packet is a local-only locker and nothing leaves your phone except what you choose to share.
• Signed in, your locker is private to your account.
• No ads, no advertising ID, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

Your account

You can create an account with your email address and a password, or sign in with a 6-digit code emailed to you. You can change your name, email and password, sign out everywhere, or delete your account in the app.

What we store when you're signed in

• Your APKs and their icons, uploaded when you add them to your locker.
• Details read from each APK: file name, app label, package id, version, SDK levels, size, sha256, signer fingerprint, permissions and ABIs, release notes, and which device it came from.
• Activity: sends, WiFi hand-offs, publishes, uploads, downloads and installs, with file names, sizes and a short device name such as “Pixel 9a”.
• Settings: appearance, sort order, haptics, delete confirmation and hidden apps; on iPhone, the recipients you save.
• Push tokens, so your phones can be told when a new version arrives.

The Packet catalog

Packet can also show a public catalog of apps that anyone can see, even signed out. Apps in the Packet catalog are for everyone; your own uploads and hidden apps are private to your account.

On your phone

Downloaded copies of APKs are kept on your phone as a cache; you can clear them in Settings › Locker. Signed out, your locker, activity and settings stay on the phone.

WiFi hand-off

When you send over WiFi from iPhone, your iPhone runs a small web server on your local network for as long as the send screen is open. The link carries a short code, and the server closes as soon as you leave the screen. Nothing goes through our servers for this.

Permissions

• Local network (iPhone) — to serve APKs on your WiFi so an Android phone can download them in its browser.
• Install and delete apps (Android) — to install, update and uninstall apps you choose from your locker.
• Notifications — to tell you when your apps update.

Sharing

We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. Data is processed by our hosting provider to run the service, and iPhone notifications are delivered through Apple's push notification service.

Retention and deletion

Your locker keeps the last 10 versions of each app. Deleting a version or app removes its file, icon and record. Delete account removes your locker, every APK in it, and your activity from all phones; APKs already saved on a phone stay there. You can also email hello@atberth.com.

Children

Packet is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change. The latest version will always be at this URL.
